what is fascia?
Fascia is connective tissue. Connective tissue is a thin, spider web substance holding and supporting the entire body (muscles, bones and organs). Connective tissue not only surrounds the muscles and bones, it is intricately woven throughout the muscles to provide optimal support and balance. Connective tissue is almost like a 3D spider web in the shape of the human body.
When a part of the web is shortened, maybe a result of a physical or emotional trauma no matter how insignificant, the entire web is affected.
What is the goal of structural integration?
The goal of structural integration is to realign the skeletal structure to create tensegrity in the body.
A concept of muscular-skeletal relationships based on the work of architect Buckminster Fuller; refers to the forces of tension (provided by muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia) pulling on structure (bones and joints) that help keep the body both stable and efficient in mass and movement.
what is pilates?
Pilates is a style of movement where oppositional exercises (exercises using opposition from springs, bands, or just gravity alone) are performed with careful attention to balance in the skeletal structure, or tensegrity.

how is CTM different than Structural integration?
Unlike Structural Integration, CTM is not performed in a series. CTM focuses on superficial layers of fascia. This does not mean that CTM sessions do not feel “deep.” Clients say CTM feels like a very deep massage or stretch, without the pain or poking discomfort of a “deep tissue massage.” CTM provides the body with a deep fascial stretch unattainable on your own, using basic structural integration techniques.

pilates aims to realign the skeletal structure through oppositional movement. Oppositional movement re-teaches the body to move with tensegrity and balance. Structural integration speeds up this process. Pilates, when done properly, can act as reinforcement for the work completed in Structural Integration.
