the Ida Rolf Method of
Structural Integration
Structural Integration works with the deeply held patterns that shape how you stand, move, and even see yourself. Through gentle, hands-on work, the body begins to remember its natural ease—a quiet harmony of structure, breath, and energy that allows you to move through your day with greater lightness and support from within.
In other words,
it helps your body let go of old habits so you can move and feel better in everyday life.
How it Works
Structural Integration works through the fascia, the body’s connective tissue, to unwind deeply held patterns of strain. These shifts travel through your whole system, restoring a natural sense of balance and ease.
At its core, Structural Integration helps your body let go of old strain patterns so movement feels lighter and more integrated.
The Ten Series
A progression of ten sessions, each building on the last, guiding your body toward greater alignment and awareness.
Rather than addressing symptoms or single muscles, this work looks at how your body is organized in gravity. When the structure is aligned, movement becomes more fluid, breathing deepens, and tension naturally lets go.
The results are lasting: a grounded, open body that feels naturally integrated.
It’s less about fixing what hurts and more about helping your structure find the balance that makes everything feel better.
The results are long-lasting and often life-changing: a body that feels more grounded, open, and at ease.
For those who have completed the Ten Series, shorter refresh series—three, four, or five sessions—offer a gentle way to return, refine, and deepen the work.
-
Each session lasts about 75 minutes and takes place on a comfortable treatment table. You’ll remain in undergarments or a bathing suit so we can observe and work with your body’s alignment. Sessions are hands-on and slow-paced, allowing your body time to respond and integrate changes.
-
Structural Integration can feel intense at times, but it should never feel forceful or injurious. The work focuses on depth and precision, not pressure. While some areas may feel tender as old patterns release, most people describe the experience as deeply relieving and grounding.
-
Rather than focusing on isolated muscles or symptoms, Structural Integration works with the body as a whole system in gravity. It does not use lotions or oils, and the movements are slow and sustained — feeling more like a deep, lengthening stretch than a traditional massage. The intention is to reorganize, not simply relax, the tissue.
-
The Structural Integration process is completed in ten sessions, ideally once per week or every other week. This rhythm allows your body time to adapt and build on each stage of the series.
-
You may notice subtle shifts right away — feeling taller, lighter, or more connected. It’s also normal to feel slightly off-balance or disorganized at times as your body adjusts to new patterns between sessions. These sensations are temporary and part of the integration process.
-
Yes. In fact, movement often feels more supported and connected as the structure opens. We simply recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for the rest of the day after your session, to give your body time to settle and integrate the changes.
-
Once the Ten Series is complete, your structure will continue to adapt and refine over time. Many clients return for a 3- or 4-session refresh several months or a year later to continue building on their progress.
“Strength that has effort in it is not what you need; you need the strength that is the result of ease.”
